    Default F40 Gearbox Whine

I posted here a few months back reference my Z20net gearbox being notchy in 1st and 2nd gear changes and a rattle on idle with it disappearing when clutch pedal pressed.
Well over the past couple of months this problem is slowing getting worse i can hear a rattle coming from the centre console area when i pull away in 1st and go for 2nd when clutch pedal pressed and also when in 3rd travelling at 30mph and release accelerator pedal upon decrease in speed thats when i hear the whine i dont hear it when accelerating and its not all the time in every gear just 2nd and 3rd.
A few weeks ago i took a drive to Borth to see my brother and on the way back i was travelling in 6th gear and if i was to press accelerator pedal quick i hear and feel and loud thud like engine or gearbox moves, the car still drives great other than this problem and im not sure what it is the car is a facelift 2005 2.0 Turbo with 52000 on the clock, just a little concerned can someone please help

Could it be the clutch, sounds like the clutch slave cylinder is knackered

Just because the clutch is not slipping it doesn't mean that the clutch slave cylinder is knackered

    Its number 9 here: http://opeloem.com/vauxhall/vectra_c...lutch_kit.html

The master clutch cylinder is attached to the clutch pedal. When one depresses the pedal hydraulic fluid is forced from the master cylinder through the hard line to the slave cylinder. The piston in the slave cylinder is driven against the clutch linkage thereby releasing the clutch.

they can start to rattle and leak fluid stopping you from getting it gear or some gears

Separates the clutch from the gearbox so that you can change gears cleanly and without crunching.
