    confused Alternator/battery check..honda accord

Hi..My mates just inherited his recently desceased fathers HONDA ACCORD,06 plate.

Problem is that it has a history of loosing charge after about four days of standing. AA been out and say everythings fine BUT the problem still exists.

Moneys tight, aint it allways, so I thought id ask for help here.

It I were to check the batterys charge via a voltmeter when the cars not running with no draw, what kinda volts should i see?..and again with the engine running?

I had to jump start his car last night as he n his kids had spent an hour or so cleaning it out and playing with all the various toys in it...ANY IDEAS?

Once a battery is fully charged you should see at least 12.6v when the car is running you should see 13.5-14.4v if you switch on all the electrics (heater, lights, heated rear screen, ect) you should still be over 12.4v if not you may find the alternator is getting weak, also it's advisable to have the battery tested (not just with a volt meter) as you may find it has a weak cell.

Get a load test performed on the battery if you can
but a good indication is check batt volt standing 12.7v is 100% 12.4v is 50%

then check it while someone starts what does it drop too? Anything below 10.5 an battery is gogoose did if its only draining its got a parasitic drain some whwhere its probably far easier to watch a you tube video as they is more than likely a video on parasitic amp draw testing

    than me explaining.

If not let me know an ill explain how to test
