    Default Sun Strip

    Hi All

finding the low sun really bright and with no tint around the rear view mirror, it can be quite blinding when it gets between the sunvisors, so has anyone fitted a sun strip?

Yes, I had (had to whanged the windscreen since then, and didn't fiat another yet).

On each side of the windscreen, you'll find a short black line mark : you can use it to determine the lower limit.

I fitted an interior smoked film because I hated the blue tint there. It was fitted in two independant parts, one on each side. Fitting and adhesive film is easy if you soak the sticking part and the windscreen with a water and washing liquid mix : yeu then just have to slide the film until it's where you're happy with it, then chase the water and air bubbles with a squeegee.

It was just great, but since the black dotted areas around the visor aren't heat rejecting as the rest of the surface, the sun made the film creasing there.

So I think best good idea would be to fit an exterior color coded strip PLUS an interior smoked or grey strip, to match the interior fabric trim.

Also remember the strip's inner curve has to be placed up, not down, if you want the strip to sip almost straight, because of the windscreen curvature.

Have to remember that if the wipers go over the tint/vinyl could fail a mot.

Thanks Z80 for the fitting advice, I know what u mean about the dots, it might not be so bad if they had a larger dotted area around the interior mirror area like a lot of cars do.

I'll have a look for one, just don't want a massive one, just enough to do the job. Thanks Guys

According to the law, it's a matter of a given height from the top.

The wipers do go over the blue tinted area already, so what do they have to say about that ?

If it covers any part of the wipers swiping area its classed as a obsruction in the vield of view. The way round it is put on shorter wiper blades.
