Default MOT Passed for another year (By the skin of our teeth)

Took the car for it's MOT today and the guy was extremely thorough (I asked him to be).

Well, she passed, but only by the skin of her teeth.

Advisory for play in near side steering rack end.
Advisory for split drive shaft gaitor (but not allowing ingress of dirt so advisory rather than failure).
Advisory for both rear tyres being only just over legal limit (outer edges rest was fine).
Advisory for nail in near side rear tyre (only put my SRi wheels back on last week and it wasn't in there then so obviously picked something up in Cambridge.

So, two new tyres on the rear this morning and I need to order a driveshaft gaitor and a steering rack end but other than that all good for another year.

8 years old with 67k on the clock and she's never failed me yet

Oh and for anyone wondering, my angeleye headlights were in complete with strobing LEDs in the halos and 6000k 50w HIDS and he didn't even bat an eyelid at them, beam pattern and alignment was right and that's all he cared about, didn't even test the headlight washers.

All that crack about headlights levellers and washers is not in force yet on the mot computer unit there are not the options for these things as vosa mucked up so anyone who has or might fail has a very strong appeal agaist the mot testers as vosa admit they messed up and you will most likely get free retest and the mot stations can get fined for failing you on such things.

    Hope that helps people.

Well done ian not suprised it passed when i had a look at your car in hull it was very clean. Well done

Lol, I'd rather know what's wrong and fix it then hope someone doesn't spot it.

You might find its the balljoint of the wishbone rather than the track rod end, so many mistake the movement they feel for a track rod end.
Double check yourself before you go and fit the track road end

    Nice one Ian

Mine failed on Tuesday this week, front disc's and pads, front drop links and a number plate bulb, not bad for a 140k 54 reg Vectra that i only bought in July
