    Default Guess gearbox the noise

Well i thought i'd post up an audio clip of the noise ive been getting for a while (the best i could do, apologies in advance). Its not the flywheel, clutch, release bearing or csc as ive just had the DMF replaced hoping to cure this problem.

Got a check-up on the DMF at 500 miles so im going to ask the mechanic (hopefully) what it probably is. But i thought i'd see if anyone else had some ideas. The report sheet i got when the DMF was done stated "slight noise from gearbox", however i dont know if this is the "slight noise" he was talking about, as it's not very quiet considering there shouldn't be any noise at all (although the audio clip doesn't really give it justice how noticeable it is).

Anyhows, lollipop to the winner when i find out :P

Well if it is the dmf then there's no way there going to tell me that, any idea how I would go about proving that? Chances are I'm going to need proof if I want to claim my 600 quid back.

I had a new DMF fitted when I bought the car under Vx warranty I also have a very slight rumble feeling through the pedal and a sort of sound similar to that but very quiet only I can hear it sort of ,,, I think,,,, that has been there since the fitting, it has not got better not got worse and is what is described as within tolerance. A true DMF death rattle is like this.

Another garage with owners I trust for years tell me it is fine (after 40,000 miles on the thing with me driving all of them basically)

Yeah i know the noise isn't too bad, its just annoying since it was the main reason i had all the repairs done. As long as the work i paid for was done im happy, i decided last week i ain't taking care of the car no more and i'll just do the repairs i need to, to keep it running and safe but past that i don't care any more.
