Anyone done this? It's something I'm planning on doing when I turn 21.

I'll be booking myself in for this, a mate of mine is doing his in about 4 weeks. He's paid £600 from start to finish with the CBT price inclusive. I can't wait to get it done and get out on a bike.

What my heart says... Triumph Daytona 675R... the same mate that hasn't got his licence takes delivery of his brand new 675R Dark Edition a week before his DAS. Mad having that as his first bike, but he's owned a Mustang since he was 20 so he's not exactly conventional.

In my head, I'm looking at an SV650s or ZZR-600. Just need to try them out as I've heard from a few people that i might struggle to fit on either of them being over 6ft.

How many days are you doing the DAS? Your mate must be loaded!

I'm looking at around 5 days, maybe 6. I've never ridden a bike so I'll leave it to the experts to judge how long I need. Nice bike, just crippling on the insurance for me. And he's doing alright, we're on similar money but he's without the wife and children to fund. Just a few bills, a mortgage and car to pay for... jealous!

I haven't checked insurance yet, Just planning on getting the license first..

I guess I'm in the same boat as you, I've never ridden before either so I'll let them judge but I'm hoping about 5-6 days too

    Ha ideal bachelor lifestyle then..

Does the DAS provide you with the theory test? Or do you have to arrange that separate?

I did DAS, however from 1st January I am sure they are upping the age limit. Current test is in four parts, CBT - Compulsory Basic Training to allow you onto the road on a 125 (age 17) or 50 (age 16), Theory/Hazard Perception, Mod 1 done in a car park to test skills, Mod 2 out on the road.

I would recommend ACE Training in Durham and Billingham, thats who I did my training with and my son and girlfriend also done their CBT's with them.

If you want to chat more about it, PM me.
