    Default 2.2 dti injector seals

    hi all.

the cars not been starting so well lately and iv been told to replace the leak off pipes which i have done.

my mechanic mate is now telling me that i need the injector seals doing and im a bit skeptical.

he says i have "black oil" coming out of the leak off pipes and its full of it at the bottom of the diesel filter?

i seem to think that the soot has been mixing with diesel and settled in the filter but thats just a theory.

so what are the symptoms i should be looking out for, for potential injector seal failure.

    al.

Your mechanic has diagnosed the fault correctly.

The upper rubber seals (usually the worn ones) can be replaced without removing the camshaft completely.

If you have soot in the diesel (as you seem to think) someone's seriously messed up your pipework under the bonnet.

as said , oil in the fuel filter will be a sure sign of injector seals .
