    Default Extending My Warranty

I have had the siggy for 3 months (thankfully covered by a good warranty).

In my first 3 months I have had:

    AC compressor pack up
    Altenator pack up
Ashtray lid stop closing (obviously hugley important - managed to solve this all by myself with a sticky fixer )

But the warranty has covered these - a small excess and she has been back on the road in 24hrs both times.

For the sake of £25 per month for premium cover (inc breakdown) I can't argue.

Just wondering if anyone else does this?

No extended warranty just have it serviced and drive it.

No extended warranty on household appliances either a huge con.

I talk salesman into working a 2 year warranty into a deal everytime I buy a used car. Had my ibiza FR since january broke down last week and an injector had failed. What would have been an almost £700 bill was zero and i get a hire car whilst the car is in getting warranty work. Even things like broken springs which are common are covered.

I've walked away from purchases before when the salesman wouldn't give up on trying to sell me extended warranties despite having been told no more than once. Never bought one on anything in my life and never will.

no waranties need on comsumer goods, sales of goods act takes care of that, home insurance takes care of accidental damage, as ian said one big con, but reading on here it appears that warrantys can come in handy.

Set up a separate bank savings account and pay your £25 per month into it - use that to pay for your repairs/servicing, etc - rather than taking out a warranty Teach yourself how to do your own repairs and servicing and you will save a fortune

I appreciate the opinions, thanks guys.

I am looking at it from the point of the warranty costing a total of £250 for the year, excess of work is £35. So in 12 months £285 work would break even, not taking into account the fact that the warranty has covered more than £1,900 work already (genuine VX parts are part of the warranty).

The car is the Z20NET at as close as makes no difference to 70,000 on the clock on a 55 plate. From the forum I have seen that this age/milleage can start to develop problems so would like to keep my backside covered just in case.

I suppose its like the condom analogy - I'd rather have one and not need it, than need it and not have it. I could end up with gonorrhea of the face...
