Cleaning caliper carrier

Anyone give their caliper carrier bracket a scrub with the wire brush when changing pads?

Just curious as I've been having a load of trouble with a rubbing noise when turning right since I changed the discs and pads on the front.

Found an article online about how corrosion on the carrier can stop the outer pads to stick against the disc when the brakes are released and was wondering if this could cause the VERY annoying rubbing I'm suffering from!

Also, has anyone ever suffered from excessive wear on the rubber sleeves which take the caliper slide pins? Also been wondering if they can get worn out and cause the caliper to move excessively and rub...

It is ESSENTIAL when replacing the front pads and/or discs on the 314 mm setup
I pointed this out to the local garage I used, they weren't aware of this when fitting the new front pads last time, but they know about this time (the mechanic asked me about this today, as he remembered I pointed it out last time)

Had the same problem but when i was turning left took me a week to find out what i had done wrong,had wheels off dressed discs,pads out again checked everything over and over,eventually found i had routed the cable for the pad wear sensor wrongly and every time i turned the wheels it rubbed on the inner wall of the front tyre,only found it by chance as it wore through the outer insulation and was revealing a yellow wire inside,i know it sounds silly but it did sound like quite a harsh rubbing sound,might be worth a look

Why do you need to.replace the old sliders
They run inside a rubber sleeve
All you need to do is remove them clean them and cover in copper grease and remove the rubber sleeves and do the same to them and the hole the rubber sleeve fits in

Buying new ones is a waste of money

I was told that using copper grease for the sliders is the wrong stuff to use.

White lithium grease is the stuff you want.

Replacing sliders ermmmm.

Starting to think back to the mk2 cavalier and astra with those rubbish sliders that used to seize with them metal caps. Please has the vectra moved on i hope so!

Mine are not even 50% worn yet at 26k.

You use a garage that doesn't know to clean caliper carrier with a wire brush?

Surely you'd be questioning letting them work on your car?

hello guys,

just replaced yesterda mine 314 MM disc's and brake pads (ATE brand).
when tried to fit the wheel back (17'') i noticed the wheel is scrubbing to the wheel (inner side).
discs and pads are brand new ATE's.
should i take 1-2 mm from the outer brake pad now and mount them back in order to solve the touching of the caliper to the wheel? or what is there wrong?
P.S.
caliper carriers are the same on LEFT or RIGHT side? because i see no difference on them when took out to clean...they were removed booth at the same time, and cleaned, then mounted back...someone known if they need to be placed in a specific order (LEFT or RIGHT) ?
