Default Who is right or wrong - Service Due

My 61plt Insignia 2.0 130 diesel is coming up for Service according to the 'Oil Service Life' readout on the dash where is its at 20% left at 34k miles. The last service was at 2% Oil Service Life.

Today the dealer rang to book it in for a service going from the info of the previous service. They say its due at 36k miles.

Unless I'm wrong, the handbook has no stipulation of times when it should be serviced by mileage. But only by Oil Service Life.

So who is right as for when the car is due for Service, the dealer or myself.????

    thanks

Must respect warranty conditions, though. If any.

yes true i guess but surely an early service is a good thing isnt it? would a warranty company prefer you not to do an early service?

Main and interim service schedules for my insignia (CDTI 130 Bhp) are 20,000 miles or 1 year what ever comes sooner, in my honest opinion though the oil service never lasts a year i always get it changed every 6 months

Warranties state that service is to be done according to schedule, but of course nobody can say that early service voids warranty.

My post was in reply to the then above "if you want it done at 34 then who cares what others think?" and I agree to that with the notice regarding warranty.

If out of warranty or you don't care, you are the only one to decide if/when service is due. And to live with the consequenses

The handbook I have states 20K miles or 1 year
Sounds to me like the dealership have based the estimation on how long it took you to complete 16K miles and then the next 20K miles (assuming the first service was at 16K miles from the information provided) or 11 months has now passed

The dealership I use still uses 1 year intervals, even though I was booking my own car in for a service every 9 months (due to high mileage)
As a result I was receiving a reminder 3 months after the service!

    Ok Thanks peeps.

Not been back here due to Holidays.

Can anyone tell me what page number, where its written about the service schedule saying its 20k or 12mths.

As I've been away for a month my current mileage stands at 35540 miles with 13% oil life left.

So again, who is right the dealer or the computer readout in the car with my present mileage.

The car was last serviced at 19500miles when it was 10months old, if the dealer had not contacted me I would have waited till approx. 0% oil life. But by waiting till then would it effect the warranty. Currently it would be roughly January before I get to 40k or 0% oil life.

    thanks

Don't worry about booking it in yet, the car will tell you when the service is due in the DIC, and as I understand it once the "service vehicle soon" is displayed you have 300 miles to get it serviced or it will go into limp mode.
