Default Anyone hosed their engine bay?

Was watching a video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpI56...eature=related

These guys make it look so easy.

I have a 1.9CDTi 150 and really wanna clean my engine bay as it is minging!

Anything I should be careful of? Is it ok to soak the battery terminals like they do?

    - not thread related but is it ok to remove the engine tray underneath the car, as my screws on the flap won't screw back in for some reason and it flaps down and would be easier to just remove it! Better for future oil changes too!

My bottom tray fell off 2years ago and been fine.

Just be careful that you don't give sensitive items to much attention. Give the more grubby items a spray with degreaser and a scrub with a brush first so your just kind of rinsing the engine?

mine been done that way at runs ok apart from usual wear n tear.

About every 2 months or so. Cover the electrical items(tbh I dont). Spray a good degreaser(im using G101 at the moment) all over, agitate with a small paint type brush, start the engine and power wash down(avoiding the air intake, obviously).

I just spray some alloy cleaner an then blast it not had a problem just don't go silly near fuse box & any connectors

as for the under tray just bin it.

it hides any small leaks.holds water an grime next to sub frame there fore rotting it faster.

makes it a complete pain in arse for oil changes on drive way too.

mine is just hanging in shed for when I sell it should the next owner decide they want it back on

Think I will give this a go sometime in the week, seen a handy idea of wrapping tin foil around all the electrical connectors and alternator, wraps it tight and wont flap everywhere like a plastic bag!

If you want to be careful with spraying water into the engine bay, try using a garden sprayer, the types you pump up by hand.
