Default Some honest advice on the 2.2 direct engine

Toying with trading up the cdti for a petrol but after looking around sadly seems I can only get 2.2 or 2.8 in automatic

Now the whole reason I got rid of my 2.5 lexus was cos of fuel consumption,
so obviously it's gonna be the 2.2 direct Sri

Can anyone honestly discuss mpg costs and things to look for,
Got my eye on a black xp2 one in birmingham

My average day consists of maybe a 30 mile round trip and then a wee bit at weekends, my signum does this for about 30 quid a week

I appreciate any genuine help as I rushed into buying the cdti without being a member here and wish I had a time machine because I would have saved myself hassle
    Love this forum

    (just wanted to add)
My 30 miles a day is subject to change as I'm self employed, Ive been on the same job for the last year and got an easy 6 month still where I am but when things dry up I could land anywhere

Consider the 1.8VVTi, its got about 140 ponies and will do a good 40mpg on average.

Yes, it may be the smallest engine in the UK range, but i think its a peach.

    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : Sri

    Engine : 2.2 Direct

    Year : 2007

I do a 50 mile round trip (mainly motorway) daily in my 2.2 Direct and depending on which brand of petrol I put in I get anywhere between 420 and 480 miles out of a tank. Supermarket petrol gets less mileage whilst Shell gets me the higher results. My combined average is currently sitting at 37.1mpg. I have to say that when I saw your previous post about changing to a petrol engine my first thought was "he should get a 1.8 VVTi" as you don't seem to do a great distance each day.

    I have a VVT-i manual.
On a run to Cornwall and back i got about 40mpg, my daily 7 mile EW commute is about 35mpg.

I dont think Vauxhall made a Vectra 1.8 auto, only Astra's, but you never know.
What about a 2.0L Turbo? Again I'm not sure if they made an auto 2.0L.

What about an Insigna 2.0l auto:

On supermarket fuel, I am currently liking Tesco Momentum, my car is deffo more lively on the motorway, plus 30 in 4th gear and below 40 in 5th is OK.
I have also tried Shell V (not much difference) but not tried BP Ulimate.

    Edit.
Network Q link is not working, but the car is easy-ish to find, there is only one 2.0L auto, reg is KU10 VVT.

That doesn't seem too bad.. I bet I'd get away with 30 quid a week in petrol or thereabouts hmm

Coming from a diesel you'll hate the lack of torque from any of the non-turbo petrol engines...
