    Default Help me PLEASE!!!!

Following the usual symptoms of a failed thermostat on my vectra (z18xer) I have purchased and fitted a new thermostat. I have run water through it to make sure no leaks but the part of the engine it the thermostat bolts onto has now cracked and started leaking. All I need to know is how best to patch this and what is the likely £ damage to be!! I am gutted.

Are you able to get a picture of it?

you may be able to get some metal putty or e metal type stuff to seal it. Or it may need to be welded.

    How has it cracked?

I assume I must have over tightened the bolt but I am concerned if the parties that fragile. Will try to take a photo of it. It doesn't appear to be metal like the engine.

This is a photo. The thermostat is not connected here and the crack is the black mark on the brown casing.

You may get away with sealing it with some metal putty can be bought from a motor fafactors how ever doesn't looked like a crack from over tightening

has it been hit with anything?
