97mph on the M4

Just following on from Parapauls Thread, I got snapped on the M4 just outside Swindon in November doing 97mph...My License (At the moment) is point free...does anyone know what i can expect, when it goes to court...the paperwork does say i can plead guilty by post, but should i attend??

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I think if its under 99/100 ish you're safe from a ban and its just the three point penalty?

It's definately going to be more than 3 points...because the letter stated that the speed was to high for a fixed penalty.....I reckon 6 points and big fine...but fingers crossed, you never know....the magistrate might get his bits in the night before

mmmmmm naughty naughty! just plead guilty mate you wont get banned but i would assume 4 points and anything from £100 -£250 fine good luck

The silly thing is...i'm not disputing the fact that i was going way too fast, but....it was 4am in the morning...not another car on the road...and i'm delivering parts to Wales for work...WHAT REALLY ANNOYS ME!! is there's 100 silly herberts flying round Dartford one way system every week nearly killing each other, and....not a Copper in sight...i'm not going to start bashing the Police Because i Think they do a wonderful job...I just think sometimes us Law abiding (ish) motorists are an easy Target

just bend over and take it mate! although i agree with your comments regarding the road being quiet etc but generally they dont care and as you say i personally would never "police bash" as ive got 2 very good mates in the force, get yerself a snooper hee hee

A friend of mine was snapped recently coming back up the motorway from Yorkshire ( not sure what motorway ) at 94mph.

He got 6 points and a £400 fine.

Hope it all works out in the end for ya.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope its not too bad....

I live fairly near where you got caught.
Anyone going down the M4 between Junction 14 and the M5, BEWARE....... it is a notorious speed camera stretch of road, there are even speed camera signs up next to the motorway. DO NOT go over 80 mph...
