    Default Hydralic 'bonnet lifters'

    Hi,

I have a facelift SRi, and it lacks the hydralic bonnet lifting facility. Is it easy enough/possible to add on should I ever come across one?

Not really a major issue, just curious.

Another case of penny pinching here? Do you have a conventional bonnet prop then?

Didn't someone say they were removed due to the bonnet being thinner and lighter and there was concern the hydraulic struts could bend it?

I could be talking total bolox here, but someone will be along shortly who remembers seeing it too!

I'm pretty sure it's bolox either way!
Got to agree there, if that was the case surely they could use a strut with less pressure

    Definitely deleted on mine.

First time I lifted the bonnet, I almost dropped it again from 3ft, as I haven't had to wrestle with the little support stick thing since my Talbot Avenger.

Apparently due to costs, and as the bonnet is light (Alu) I don't need the gas struts anyway

I can confirm that the bonnet is lighter as it doesnt incorporate the front grill like the pre-facelift... but I think it must be down to penny pinching... or some EU Regulation on Bonnet weights v.s Gas Struts..

How silly. You'd think something like that would be easy enough for a multi million dollar international company to get around. Bit off subject (sorry) but i noticed a facelift vec in the showroom today and happened to see that they've done away with the rear heater vents too now. Whats the matter with em!!! Now thats deffo penny pinching!

    Agreed!!!

    Vx are penny pinching gits!!.

I could have held out for a month or two longer before buying my pre-facelift V6 and went for a facelift one, but the drop down in spec bothered me ( mines a late 2004 car and its got all the goodies thankfully!!! ).

I love the hyraulic lifter under the bonnet, its little things like these that you dont realise you miss until they arent there anymore!!.
