Question Life of clutch/ease of replacement 2.2 DTi

I chaged the clutch on a cavalier years ago, it was dead easy. A quick look at my 2.2 DTi would suggest the old method is not possible. Is it required to remove the engine or just the gearbox to change the clutch? The car has done nearly 130k miles, mainly on motorways. Anyone any experience of how long these clutches last, given a good driver?

It's a much bigger job on the vec C or so i'm lead to believe. It's drive shaft out and drop the subframe I think, maybe remove g/b too ?

I'm sure someone more in the know will be along soon !

well, 1st of all, welcome Paul....

and 2nd, i'm going to nudge this over to the correct forum....

and 3rd..yep, it's a subframe and gearbox out job.. you can leave the engine in if you have access to an engine beam, or if you're doing it on a ramp and have 2 gearbox jacks..
how long does a clutch last??.. piece of string really...motorway miles means less wear and tear on it, so i'd leave it be until it started showing signs of failure.. Oh, and the subframe bolts are stretch bolts so will have to be renewed at the same time as the clutch...get a scaffold bar, they'll be tight..
