    Default My CDTi 120 :-)

As most of you know, I have recently acquired a CDTi 120 Vectra. The car runs fantastic but lacked the power that my previous 150 had. I put this down to it being a 120.

The car had an occasional flat spot, just as the turbo kicked it, but not every time. This morning I decided to remove the boost sensor to give it a clean. It looked like a half-eaten fruit pastille that someone had chewed and spat out After soaking the sensor part in carb cleaner for an hour and giving it a good spray with carb cleaner, it was looking like new.

Took for a spin and to say the least... WOW It's almost as quick as my 150 was, and the flat spot seems to have gone too.

Amazing how such a small thing can make such a big difference.

EGR looked a little sooted up but not too bad, and it works. So just left that alone. Unplugged it but didn't see any further improvement.

It's going in on Tuesday for a new timing belt and water pump, as the current one has done 45k miles. Going to stick a thermostat in as well as it only seems to reach 80* and drop down again when moving.

Overall, seems a great motor for an 05 reg CDTi 120 with 133k miles on. Has full service history too

Also, attacked the car with the polisher this morning. Looks a treat now

Lol. I had a 52 reg preface 2.2 DTi a year ago before moving to a facelift CDTi 150. Back to an 05 pre-face now and much prefer it

My XP2 drives very much like the preface 2.2i direct I had, better steering and very firm & precise. I prefer the facelift hands down, but the preface had nice extras!

(ps... the red 'i' in your signature needs to be black, as that means you have a 150, not a 120!!)
