eml on my vxr

hi all

keep getting the EML on before i start the car but soon as its started it turns off after 5 seconds

i know it is meant to come on for 30 seconds when you turn the ignition on but it never turns off util started

bit stumped on what it could be i have had a reader on it and only fault it read was u2111 something to do with the power steering but steering it fine and not had any problems with it

i have been reading on here that it may be worth popping the ABS plug off and giving a clean with WD40 so will try
i have also checked the battery connection as told that it may be related that but any other suggestion i cold try would be grateful im not the best around the engine so if you could pop a pic up and show the part and description that needs looking at will be a great help

when it first come on a few weeks ago i disconnect the battery for 15 mins and this cleared it for a few weeks but its back again so could it be as simple as a connection?

It's Meant to come on with the ignition lights and go off when the car starts , so I can't see the problem you have ?

when you turn the ignition on it comes on yes but after 30 seconds or so it should turn off as with all the other pre warning lights

TBH i think it less than 30 seconds as well

Think you need to have codes checked and cleared just for peace of mind. It sounds normal to me.

Defo not normal mate
had codes read as did it myself and also cleared them but the same u2111 comes back every time

its not normal fella the light should go off when the dials do there sweep. if it stays on it has logged a fault and the car is making you aware of that. as long as it goes off when the engine is started then the problem isnt present and has just been logged
you need the codes read bud
pity you aint closer could have done it for you

i have disconnected the battery again today and its stayed off well until i just used it to pop to the shop and it popped up again under fualt u2111 again and i am unable to delete the code little confusing do you think popping it into a local garage would be worth doing to see if they can see what its all about or will they just get the same fault that i am getting?
