partly true.... they come with full AA cover for the first 12 months. They then drop to just roadside recovery for years 2 & 3. You can pay vauxhall to upgrade this back up to full cover again for a one off payment of £99 which will cover the car till its 3rd birthday. This is what i did with my last Sri.Originally Posted by ion
To make things even more complicated, if it was bought via networkQ, then NetworkQ provide a 'top up' scheme for all cars bought through the scheme which tops the AA cover up to full cover for 12 months from date of purchase.
So in this case.... although the Vauxhall AA cover has now dropped to basic cover, the network Q top up is still running for another 7months providing full cover. Is your head hurting yet?

I got free AA cover with my last service, the first service had been done by a non vx dealer. Why are you on to your 2nd service though if it is just a year old, are you hammering on the miles?
No, It had its 1st service (oil change) and warranty inspection when I bought the car back in April on 11k. Its now done just over 15k but its a year old so its gone in again. Will go in again when its 18 months old too lol.Originally Posted by Bainie
Luckily a good mate of mine who used to be head tech (or service manager one of the two) at a local Vx dealer for many years left to set up on his own as a Vauxhall specialist.
I just drop my car off at his house the night before, he takes it with him the next day spends time with the car doing a proper job obviously using genuine parts etc. I then pick it up from his house that evening. I get a hand written invoice and usually a couple of hours chat explaining exactly what HE has done (rather than what a service receptionist hopes has been done) as well as a stamp in the book.
Then charges me much much less than Vx would!!
I will ask him about the warranty tonight when I see him.
so say you don't put your car in for a service on its 1st birthday, how do you go about registering it for dealer 2nd + 3rd year warranty, e.g. my dads one was bought 7 months old with 12K on it already so it won't be going back until its done 20K which it will be over a year old by the time it reaches this mileage.
any info mucho appreciated. also, is the AA cover transferrable or is it only applicable to the 1st owner, e.g. we break down next week can we just fone the AA and give the reg number and they just come straight out.

I need to check about registering for 2nd yr warranty, I thought it automatically continued, earlier in this thread it was pointed out that this is not the case. I'll be on the phone to vx when I get 5. Don't want to lose the warranty
These points also confuse me with regard to 24 month servicing, maybe I'm being thick but if they insist on 12 months to get the above then how can the car also be recommended to run for 2yrs before servicing?
I
was thinking the same myself mate, why do you need to put it in every year when the service interval is 2 years/20K
