    Default New to Vauxhall

    Hi all

I've been sent to this forum by a very good friend who acquired a Signum a few months ago and has encouraged me to get my first one.

I've had mainly older BMs for the last 10+ years and I've never owned a Vauxhall before, but I was impressed with his so why not?

I've bought and am collecting tomorrow a 1.9CDTI (150) 56 plate. The car has 81K miles on it (I'm a cheap skate, sorry) as well as some superficial damage to the paintwork on the passenger side doors.

I am based in Northampton town centre.

I wonder if anyone out there would

    -Recommend a Vauxhall garage/specialist
-Recommend a set of tasks I should do first (I guess water-pump and cam belt if not done recently?)
-A good "chips away"/body work place I can get the scratching sorted out at

Many thanks all, looking forward to being an active member on your forum!

    Stu

Don't know what you mean. Was time for a change from the BM's

Things I would do first are:

    Oil
    Plugs
    Air & fuel filters
    Water pump
    Belts

Rest should be as & when needed, am happy to be corrected.

Plugs? It's a diesel you fool! I suppose doing the glowplugs wouldn't hurt, winter's coming.

The guy who did the X5 did a good job, but there is a place near my work that repaired a mates bumper (split) with paint & fiberglass I think it was cheeper that the work you had on the X5, will get number for you...

    Aww thanks mate

I will get the water pump and cam belt done at the "H" place you recommended. Do you fancy having a Sat or Sun of tinkering? I want to do the vacuum hoses and EGR miself but I don't have a torx ratchet set. I don't suppose you know anyone that does? Hint hint?
