    rolleyes rear calipers

just spent 4 hours trying to unsieze the rear caliper on the car,it was the piston stuck solid.tried winding back in but no luck,so ended up taking caliper off, and resorting to a vice and water pump pliers.would have bought a new one but 2 day wait at vx dealer, and need the car for work.all fixed now,but have to check the other side on weekend.prevention is better than cure i suppose...

Rather then take it off and using a vice, try using a G clamp to put on pressure as you wind it back.

You should check it again this weekend, to make sure it's still moving freely.

Same happened to mine. Garage couldn't get them 2budge. They seized on at 3am which was fun. 2 new ones fitted. Told mine happened cos allowed discs n pads to go fairly low and piston at full reach so more likely to happen (and 226k on the clock)

I can sympathise with the OP on this, I actually ended up damaging the piston seal whilst trying to free mine off, after that I was determined to get it off! Got there in the end, still need to replace the seal though

I was using a proper rewind tool but it kept slipping, eventually got it to bite.

Mike if thy were leaking why didn't you just replace the seals?

Mine were tight when we changed the pads and discs. We just stipped the caliper off of the car fitted the rewind tool in position, but left it a little bit slack then gently pressed the brake pedal. This was enough to free the piston and it wound back easily after that.
