Default Occasional Heavy Blue Smoke (150 CDTI)

    Hey everyone,

After a couple of months trouble free, I've noticed that the car occasionally smokes heavily (thick blue smoke) on acceleration. There are no warning lights at all and there is no loss of power at all.
I can see that the computer readings plummet - Avg MPG and Range fall heavily. I've had the DPF taken out but suspect that its not been mapped out properly. Could this be the cause of the smoke?
The Turbo doesnt appear noisy and as I've said, theres no apparent power loss. No error codes either...... Could it be the ECU thinking the DPF is still there and chucking diesel in to the exhaust to regen it? Or could it be something more sinister?

    Thanks

    Andy

Removing the Cat and DPF will make the exhaust free flowing and will result in additional unburnt fuel from th exhaust, I have noticed this after de-catting a Ford Mondeo, with no DPF.

I thought the re-gen only happened when the ECU detected enough back pressure from the DPF and a sign of it blocking..?

I get the DPF regen 'judder' though. I might have to get it checked to ensure the DPF has been taken out properly. I have a suspicion that its the DPF again, as I dont think its been taken out properly. Pain in the backside!

Call masperformance.co.uk and see if they a have a local agent, should cost you £220 to have the DPF and EGR mapped out plus a performance/economy map

I've had a search for similar posts, and note that there may be a suggestion that the Turbo may be on its way out and blowing oil, hence causing the blue smoke. Would a knackered Turbo cause the intermittent smoke or is it likely to be something less sinister??

I've had another thought...... Because the engine was pretty much neglected by its previous owner, I've been adding Millers Diesel additive for the last couple of tank fulls to give it a clean out - could that have loosened some cack inside the engine causing it to burn off and cause the smoke?

I found Millers additive cause me issues when I used it resulting in random smoke, I have changed to BG 244 which is much better and always imporved the cars running.
