    Angry 2.2direct problem

Hi i`m having a problem with my 2.2direct, It all starts ok and idles fine but when I put my foot down it seems to be holding back between 2-3000 rpm then ok again after that. It does it in every gear but only between 2-3000 rpm above that and its fine. Any one had this problem before or have any idea what it could be??

dare I say it 'fuel pump'?.... I had three fitted to my old 04 direct, 2 of which were supposed to be the re-designed version. all failures had slightly different symptoms.

Is there any way of testing this this to make sure as I dont want to spend £300 on a new one and find out it`s not the problem. How easy is it to replace? is it a diy job?

    Thanks for the reply.

diy job to replace, one of the easiest fixes you can do - if you need to replace, i belive one of the rubber seals split inside the pump, if your good with spanners and tools you could probably take apart your existing pump to check the seals for splits.

If im correct I think it should cut out buddy, as I think if its the pump at fault it sends the car into limp mode as there is no pressure (thats what it did to mine), but I think if its the fuel reg the car runs for a little but then has no power what so ever so the car is undrivable (thats what happened to mine)......

I have read a few posts from people experiencing similar symptoms to mine who have said it`s something to do with the swirl flaps in the inlet manifold sticking, Anyone has this problem? how does it affect the cars performance? Cheers
