    Default Woefully underwhelmed.....

Test drove a 2.0CDTi SRi 160 Sport Tourer Auto Nav today and must say, was completely underwhelmed. Whilst it was the comfiest I've ever been in a car, it didn't feel nearly as pokey or eager to move on as my 1.9CDTi 120 Manual Signum.

Did I just pick the wrong engine/gearbox mix, or are the sport tourers just that big and heavy that they'll never get a move on like the sigs?

I drive a 160 CDTI auto nav Insignia saloon at work. It feels torquey enough low down, but feels lethargic and runs out of puff quickly above 3000 rpm. I just think it's down to the extra weight.

I think all modern diesels are the same though. I think it was autocar who tested the new Astra 2.0 CDTI bi-turbo. This thing has 192 bhp and 295 ft/lb's torque. 0-60 takes 8 seconds!! With those sorts of numbers you would expect closer to 7 seconds to 60. I know diesels aren't 0-60 cars and their main advantage is in gear, but even then autocar said it didn't deliver as it should.
