Default 2 new tyres soon before winter

Looks like i'll be needing 2 new tyres soon on the front to replace my NCT5's size 215/50/17 91w budget of around 100 notes per wheel what do people recommend ?
Had to have one of the front's rebalanced as it had lost it's weights the tyre fitter tried to sell me maxxis for 75 notes fitted per wheel as i'm a few mill away from the wear indicators, don't know much about them only that i have the same make on my mountain bike. Don't want the eagles again really noisy, but will have to put up with them on the rear as they still have plenty of tread left. Have had falken ze912's on my old 02 plate 1.8 LS VEC C found them to be fairly good, but now have a 58 plate 1.8 VVT 16V SRI so looking for something alittle more sporty maybe ? Can i change to 225/45/17 91w on 1 axle until the other tyres need replacing as there seems to be a better options in this size and are cheaper, tyre fitter advised this might not be a good idea may void insurance if were to be involved in a RTA ?
Would be grateful of your wisdom.

Got these on my other SRI currently and fitting two more this morning. At £60 per tyre and £10 to fit, well within your budget. Great in wet and dry and will get about 20k miles on front. LOADS of very good reports on here about them also. NEO Brothers are the only sellers of these.

A lot of posts on the nt5000 criticising the tyre after a few k in the wet. Up in Rainland, wet performance is extremely important to me. I had Yokohama C Drive 2 all round on my old Vec B which performed extremely well in dry, wet, mud and snow. Geting them at £110 inc. fitting so far but havent hunted much. Highly recommended. Also search for 225/45 R17 as these will fit your wheels just nicely and if you are after a particular brand may be cheaper.

Looking for tyre that will suit all weathers really as icannot afford the luxury of winter tyres and a second set of wheels.

Mate i had maxis maz1 on my old vectra 17s and were excellent and you can usually get deals on them if you by two like. They were great in all weather and lasted ages i do about 15000 a year and there was plenty left on them

Got quoted 75 per tyre for maxxis fitted 215/50/17 but dont know which model. Probably go for 225/45/17 though fitter said that they were one of the brands that kept their shape better than alot of well known higher priced tyres.
