Sound deadening rear doors

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to sound deaden my rear doors to improve the bass of my new alpine speakers. I put in the sound deaden sheet behind the speaker and around the speaker mounting, where else i can install it as its still rattling and sound awful when it hits powerful bass. Would i need to fill in the gap behind the plastic film.

I'm glad you asked this as i have the same Alpine speakers in the rear doors as well, and they really rattle like crazy not tried sound deading yet as i was unsure where was best to start? i take it yours are amplified as well?

Yeah i'm using the alpine fx35 amplifier and had to turn down the gain and bass to the rears as it was rattling like crazy. It was absolutely awful.

If it was me I'd sound deaden the full door to eliminate any rattles as the bass from the speaker will travel through the door.

my front drivers oem speaker rattles make sure theirs no shrapnel inside the door.

As already said you will need to soundeaden the inside off the doorskin and the door pannel (what the doorcard fits to). I only had to soundeaden the door pannel as i build speaker pods to the doorcard itself, so the bass cant go passed the door pannel as it fully deaden with no holes.

Remove the clear plastic, and the speaker. (hoover out any stones debris etc from inside the door)

If you can, get some lining wallpaper and make a template roughly the same size as the clear plastic.
Noting were all the plastic fittings locate, (You can use the same template for both sides)

Cut some sound deadening to the size of the template.

Working from the top of the door down, slowly fit the sound deadening to the door, you may need to warm it to follow the contours etc.
Feed through the inner door release cable etc.

Once fitted, you can cut the sound deadening around the speaker aperture and refit the speaker.

Refit the door card

One of the biggest causes of a rattle on the doors is the felt around the lock/unlock button falls out of it's location, with out it, the button rattles inside the top of the door card.
