Default CDC40 to CDC40 MP3 upgrade.... any advice?

    Hi all,
I'm a newbie and I need some advice.
    I have a 07 Vectra 1.9CDTi Estate - Love it!
I would like to replace the CDC40 Opera unit with the MP3 version and I'm curious as to whether it's possible and if so, what's involved.
For instance, will the existing display unit work with the MP3 version?
Is this a straight swap - i.e. are the cables / connectors the same?
I know that the unit itself will have to be 'unlocked' (divorced?) but I don't think this looks too difficult. It's the other issues that concern me.
I would really appreciate any help on this.

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Eamon.

This has been asked many times. I'm not aware that there is a CDC40 MP3. There is an CD30 and a CD30 MP3, as least I think that is correct.
Basically the aux input to the CDC40 is used by the DAB unit. The DAB unit is below the Glove Box.
To get an Aux -in you would need to switch to the DAB tuner, then interupt the Left and Right audio signal input to the CDC40 and substitute the MP3 input instead.
This could be done by using a switched 3.5mm stereo headphone socket.
I'm not sure that anyone has actually done this and got it working.

Thanks Tony and Mark for your help.
@Tony - I'd prefer to avoid the iPod In route if possible. I've had CD MP3 in my last few cars and I found it very convenient - easier (and safer) to read on the road etc.
In fact, given the choice of an autochanger or MP3 CD, I would go for the latter. So, I'm not really that concerned about the changer - I would be quite happy with a single MP3 CD player (is that the CD30?) so long as the quality was reasonable and it was an uncomplicated swap.

@Mark, I have discovered that the Grundig CDC40 will play MP3 CDs but the (earlier?) Blaupunkt CDC40 will not. Unfortunately, mine is the Blaupunkt. I think another distinguishing factor is that the unit eith has DAB or MP3 but not both. As it happens, I'm not bothered about DAB. So if anyone in the opposite situation wants to do a straight swap, that would be great

    Thanks again folks.
    Best regards,
    Eamon.

Just get a parrot MKi9200, solves all your problems with MP3's and gives you bluetooth phone connection as well

    I looked on EPC4, and it describes all CDC40's as CD40 MP3.

None were listed as non-MP3 - so your's SHOULD play MP3's burnt onto CD's.
However the software used to burn the CD's can make all the difference.

I tried playing MP3s on the CDC40 that I used to have, didn't work. The CD70 does play MP3s and even though it's only a single disk you can still put loads of songs on the disk (normally 6-7 albums)
