    Default Air Conditioning Condensor

I Bought a vectra c est 1.9cdti sri 4 weeks ago, had the aircon regassed before i bought it as it wasnt blowing cold.

Picked it up and was ice cold, after 3 weeks it stopped, had a guy come and look at it and he said it was the condensor and that would be £280 to fit it. He also said that there was a dye patch on the compressor but didnt know if that was kaputt until he had done the condensor and regassed.

Phoned the garage up and the A/C isn't covered under warranty.

Any ideas, the engine picks up in revs when the ac button is pressed and i can hear a faint whiring noise through the vents.

    Regards

Had the exact same thing a couple of months ago - mine was the compressor, which should be covered under a warranty as they are mechanical parts depending on the specifics of your warranty. Because the AC in my car hadn't been used properly (ie regularly) it packed up about 3 weeks after using it.

However the condensor wont be covered as it can easily be damaged by a stone at any time - hope that helps.

Don't know how car savvy you are but there is a How 2 on replacing the condensor and it looks super easy, at least if you do that bit yourself its money saved even if you need the compressor doing too
