    Default Sky HD Freeview question.

Hi guys, do I need a sky subscription for the HDMI to work on a standard SkyHD box (non Sky+), or is the HD the TV connection only?

I need a new box but only use Sky as a freeview box so thinking about going for a second hand HD box as TV is HD anyway.

    Thanks.

You won't get any HD channels without the £10 a month HD subscription

You should get the free-to-air HD channels. BBC HD, BBC One HD, C4 HD and Channel5 HD. (perhaps ITV1 HD but I can't confirm this as I live in Scotland where there isn't an STV HD on sky)

My apologies, you will indeed get the FTA channels listed above plus NHK world HD

I've found that the HDMI connection will give a better picture than scart on SD channels too
