Default So confused on what cables are needed and if mines full canbus or what??

iv done a few searches on here and im finding it hard to find any information on specifics as there seems to be so many options.

I would like to change my Headunit in my car. At the moment its the CD30 so not very good really.. unbelievable sound for a standard headunit but not enough features..

I have on the steering wheel:
volume, track change, on the right hand side then on the left i have button to switch between radio and CD player and a scrolling wheel which goes through my MPG options etc and obviously another button thats for the radio as far as im aware. Whats this full canbus or half? iv no idea what all that is?

What i would like to know then is if i fit a pioneer Headunit right now would i need to buy a cable to just connect that up to the speakers or has the vectra already got an ISO connector?

Then if i wanted the steering wheel controls to work what cable do i need as theres so many?

and also will my trip computer still work if i get the steering wheel control cable??

    Its a Vectra C Pre facelift 05 plate SRI 1.9CDTI 150bhp
CD30 CD player fitted and has the single trip computer (large writing)

Hopefully you can help clear a few things up

    Thanks in advanced Craig

do i need this cable? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-A...ht_2240wt_1271

im guessing i connect this to the car (the big black part) then the ISO goes into the back of the after market CD player using the supplied cable with the CD player then where does the large rectangle part connect to with the smaller plug on the end?

forgot also to ask what colour is the original CD player is it gun metal grey or is it silver? would like to try keep the dash matching as best as possible

most head units, wiring wise will just plug straight in
you will need an adapter lead to get your steering wheel functions to work
best place to get this is autosounds at newcastle

From the description of your steering wheel it sounds like you've got full canbus. I think they changed over to full canbus in late 2004 or so.

So what's the advantage to full canbus? Is it possible to upgrade my screen to the facelift screen with the smaller writing? Mainly for the mpg computer. Will this still work as well once I change headunit to a none standard one?
