Default Should I give VX a second chance?

For those of you that have put up with my whinging and whining for the past year or so, I've been having a bit of a bad time with the Signum and a certain Vx Main Dealer that shall remain nameless (it rhymes with Bevan Shalshaw).

So, in the next 2 or 3 months the Sig will be going, to be replaced with a similarly sized car that'll be big enough for a dog, possibly a kid or two and some kayaks on the roof

So, do I give Vx a second chance and go for another Vec/Sig or do I consider one of the following:

    Skoda Octavia VRs
BMW 320d (probably the E36 shape)
Ford Mondeo Titanium or Titanium X
    Ford Mondeo ST TDCi
    VW Passat estate
    Audi A4 avant
    Seat Exeo Touring
    Subaru Legacy
    Volvo V70 or V50 Estate

I really want to Vx another chance to give me a car that isn't any hassle, as I really like the shape and for what they are, they're absolute bargains, but after reading a copy of What Car recently, it turns out that Vx are 28/35 for reliability and their most unreliable car - the Signum!!!!

I know you're all gonna be a bit prejudice, and that's fair enough, but I could really do with a car that's gonna run relatively trouble free for 2 or 3 years, get at least 50mpg, be big enough for all my needs and have a few toys like cruise control, sat nav....

You might struggle with 50mpg from that list of cars buddy lol.
Personally its luck of the pick with buying used cars and sometimes even new cars. I have had a problem free 2 years with mine (even being a 2.2 direct)..Only things replaced have been the common faults and then service, tyres etc. You could go and buy one of the cars from the list and be stuck with another ringer and most of them will be alot more pricey to repair than our vauxhalls.

If you really like the vectra/signum overall then I would look into getting either a 2.0T Vectra estate or at least an 08 cdti........

Give them a second chance and use Smiths of Ilkeston instead.

My old 2.2DTi Vectra C was the best Vauxhall I've ever owned (so far) and if it was an estate, I'd still have it.
Sill to make my mind up abut the 1.9 CDTi Zafira that's replaced it, but so far so good...... but yes, I am aware of the problems these engines have......

Why an 08 CDTi? Did something happen in 08 to make them more reliable? Or just because they're the last off the line?

Are the 2.0T considered the most reliable vec you can get? I'm pretty rue a 2.0T is too much on fuel and tax ( I do about 12k a year)

I've had an 06 Signum CDTi 120, most of my journeys are dual carriagway/motorway to 50mpg is an average for me in that

luck of the draw mate. I have 2 2008 150 CDTIs and both no trouble at all, and over 100k miles of trouble free motoring. I'd get a late CDTI
