    Default Fuel tank range

Hi guys, my fuel range display seams miles out on my pre face 2.2dti. Yesterday I did 250 miles on half a tank at a steady 51mpg with computer reset before I left. It's now saying I have 380 miles left. Which can't be right. I never ever make the miles it predicts. Any ideas guys?

Sounds right to me. You did 250 miles then after journey it says you have a range of 380 miles left. That adds up to 630 miles to a tank = 48mpg.

When you did the 250 miles, what range was it saying you had left whilst doing that mileage?

My 2.2dti is similar, averages 50mpg over a tank full.

But why did it take half a tank to do the 250 miles which then means the tank will do only 500 miles. Early on in the run it was showing a range of 570 ish about 10 miles after the start. I can see that predicted mileage around town at 33-34 mpg.

So you think the first half of my tank will do 250 miles and the second half almost 400 miles. Somethings not right to me.

The range is constantly adjusting itself depending on the previous 30 miles (I believe) of driving. The only way to find out how accurate it is is to finish off that tank driving exactly the same way. At the end of the day it's only an estimate - don't take it too seriously or rely on it too much.

If you want to find out more, then brim every tank and run them down to near empty, and work out your economy from there and see how much you get.

the range will vary according to driving style and I think it takes into accountwhat you have in reserve

I'd rather have a 2.8 Turbo at that economy...

It's ok, Vauxhall put it in the Signum too...

I just hate the 2.2 Direct - had one in a Signum 6 years ago and it was god-awful to drive. No torque and 30mpg. The 1.9 150 mapped or not beat it in every respect hands down.

    Except quietness.

    Can't win 'em all though...
