    Default Cruise Control not working

My cruise control on my 3.2 Auto seems to work intermittently.

It may work the first time I use it, but then if I turn it off or brake, the cruise disengages (as it should) but then will not re-engage.

Any suggestions on what I could look at please?

    Thanks.

Take the indicator arm out and clean the contacts as the cheapest and easiest thing first. Then try lifting the clutch pedal with your foot when on them move, if this helps replace the switch on clutch pedal, cheap and easy to replace.

Hey guys, sorry for the part-hijack. I'm looking to do this on mine tonight. Is it easier to take off the boot from the steering wheel end or the stalk end of the "booted" area?

    Thanks
    Stuart

The boot on the stalk just pops out at the steering wheel end. Then on the back of the stalk there is a hole/chanal where you shove a piece of stiff wire down. Pushing the wire down there makes the stalk pop out. Hope that helps.

Unlikey to be the problem then! There will be a switch on the brake, worth checking but not common for the one on the brake to go.

    Doh, so you do, lol.

As Andy says next port of call would be the brake switch too, after that well lest hope its not a CIM problem as thats where it gets expensive.

If I turn the car off and re-start it then it works again for a short while.

CIM=Column Interface Module. It sits behind the steering wheel, where the indicator and wiper stalks attach too, part of the canbus system, lets not hope its that because from the dealer you'll be looking at £250+
