    Default dmf change

has anybody changed a vectra 1.9cdti dmf without completely removing transmission? i realise space will extremely tight but if it can be done there would be no issues with subframe re alignment. cheers

I have done a couple of these at work & always removed the gearbox completely , it would be a nightmare to try & do it with the box moved to one side or whatever .

Did the job on my drive, only took 4 days . Car runs great! cost me around £500 for LUK clutch and slave cylinder, Sachs DMF, 2.4 litres of GM gearbox oil and new nuts and bolts. The clutch plate and release bearing looked in good condition but it made sense to renew the lot. I don't fancy undertaking this job again. I shall be driving like a vicar from now on!

Its just finding a mechanic you can trust. My last car (Rover 200) I put it into a garage as the clutch pedal was really stiff, he said he changed the clutch but a few months later it happened again, A few squirts with wd40 sorted it out. I suspect I paid my £180 for nothing . I wonder how many mechanics would just put the old clutch and cylinder back in. At least doing it myself I have saved at least £150 and I have piece of mind that it has all been changed. I plan to sell my old clutch and cylinder on ebay too.

did mine on wednesday night at work , 2 post lift , engine support beam & gearbox jack etc all to hand .
needed new inner boots on the driveshafts & a drop link was looking a bit worn so did the lot while I was on with it .
really wouldn't like to be doing one on the floor .
