    Default Noob question about maptun

Ok, bear with me as I've never remapped a car before!

I keep reading about people with the 2.0 turbo getting Maptun stage 1 remaps for around £250 or so, but when I look up Maptun all I can find is Saab related stuff (I know it's a Saab based engine!)

And on maptuns website their nearest installer to me (Durham) is a Saab specialist!

I fancy a remap and 200 quid is about as much as I can go to at the minute but I want to make sure I'm getting the right thing.

You could get a decent second hand tuning box for that

Your best person to speak to about Maptun is Ian Highlander, helped him yesterday to finish fitting his new turbo and then download a new map.

The 2.0T is a Saab engine and Maptun have been Saab tuners for years, which is why the Maptun resellers are usually Saab specialists.

If your budget is £200 though, then Maptun isn't for you I'm afraid. I paid £620 for my first map with them as you get a PPC unit (Maptuner) with it (which is what a lot of the cost is) that's coded to your car. This allows you to remove and re-install your map when ever you like. If you do any further upgrades in the future, you can buy upgrade maps for around £150 each then you plug your Maptuner into your PC/laptop and it re-synchs to the Maptun server and downloads any additional maps you've purchased.

Details of the different stages and prices can be found on the Maptun website here http://www.maptun.com/tuningGuide.ph...56&listorder=5 I've just fitted the bigger turbo and have moved up to stage 3 yesterday (which is the 4th tuning stage with Maptun as they do a stage 1+ as well as a stage 1).

Maptun do many marques but the vectra maps started life as saab maps as its basically the same engine.

You can't get first map from Maptun for that amount, am not sure you will get one anywhere for that much tbh. Maptun maps start at about 700 quid, subequent upgrades to your map cost 150 plus parts and vat.

Darrell @ torquingBHP has a very good reputation for remapping the 2.0T and it would be a lot less than Maptun cost wise although I think you'd struggle to get it for £200

I've never heard of a tuning box for the petrol 2.0T engine, am I missing something here?

Cheers for the info guys, looks like I've got the wrong end of stick regarding Maptun!

Ive spoken to a coupe of local places who do a remap for 250-350 but they're not the removable type.

My search continues! I suppose the longer I leave it the more I can afford lol
