Rear Centre Seat Belt Stuck

The rear centre belt on my Vectra developed a fault yesterday. At first when my son tried to use it the belt wouldn't come out at all, we were parked on a slope at the time, so nothing too surprising. Further down the road he tried pulling the belt again and it's entire length duly came out of the reel. You guessed it - now it wont retract at all! (Most people seem to have the opposite problem ie the belt stuck on the reel fully wound.) Any ideas out there? My MOT is due next month so I need a fairly quick fix!

looks lile it will have to be a new belt unit.. that was the only fix i could find when one of ours developed that fault...

I was afraid of that, but suspected as much.

Can you remember how much the new belt unit cost? Also, how easy was it to fit?

is the seat clipped back in to place by any chance
as if not the belt wont move? because mines does this if not clipped in to place after being folded down to get somthing in the boot

Thanks for the reply David, yes it is unfortunately, else that would probably have been the answer.

I've just called at my local dealer and the price is £58.50 plus VAT for a new belt unit. Oh joy!
