Trickle vents

Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone know a good way to sound dampen/proof trickle vents at the top of double glazing? The house we now rent has them and quite a bit of noise comes in them which kinda defeats on of the main advantages of Doyle glazing.

Fill the vents with bath room rubber sealant .

Then when you leave the rental property you can pull it back out , so you do not lose your deposit .

Can you unscrew the vent and fill the hollow in the middle of the frame with a flannel or underwear and socks === L.O.L. === the choice is yours .

Can you put tape over or under the vents to close the hole up .

My thoughts were insulation or expanding foam maybe?

Duct tape, temporary and in white almost invisible?

Not a good idea to block them if you have gas central heating with a back boiler. you need a constant airflow to help keep the flue for the back boiler clear.

Thanks, our boiler is room sealed and the rroom it is located in has an extractor fan which when not on allows air to flow back into the room.

Why are they fitted if its ok to block them?

If you block these they're will be no ventilation in rooms, over a period of time this will develop into dampness and you possibly feeling ill.

thats why you open the window during the day...

My parents house has double glazing with no trickle vents and its doing just fine. I would be surprised if 90% of people with trickle vents even open them tbh

i fitted windows for over 15 years, it was the building regs that changed, all new build and replacement windows after a certain date, they had to be fitted, personally i think they are a waste of time, the slot is only around 10mm wide and around 250mm long, its not gona save ya if the boiler ever leaks tbh. allso on pvc u have the night vent, ie half opened which lets it far more air tbh, and u can close it when u want.
