Default signum 3.0 v6 ecu hot

The ecu on my v6 siggy is very hot when running is this normal? Ive also got an intermittent electrical clicky sound when running which kills the power and the engine holds back when this happens. I was told it could be the hp rail sensor, Any ideas anyone plz

This probably wont help if its a sensor issue but it can't harm to share what happened to me.

I don't own a 3.0 but what I can say is that I had a Peugeot and just before the ecu failed completely the thing used to click a few engine relays for a few minutes. It then changed to clicking for ages with the ignition on and I had to wait for it to stop before it would start (apparently it was also clicking the fuel cut off as well at this point). Eventually it would never stop clicking and I had to replace the ECU and BSI. I do know that they do run pretty hot well at least they do on the Peugeot as that ecu had small fins on the outer case and this was basically a heat sink and was in contact with the board inside just like on a computer. Sorry it not very helpful but I thought I may as well tell you my experience with ECU's and clicking noises.

Best thing to do if you think it is electrical clicking would be to get the bonnet up while is doing it and check the glow relay fuel cut off solenoid, fuse box relays and any other relay/solenoid lurking in there and touch each one and see if you can identify it.

Have you tried reset of all electronics i.e. disconnect battery for an hour? Sometimes a reset to default values can do wonders!
