    Default Police spec shocks?

Just been looking through some part numbers and come across these,

    "2.2 hatch/saloon/estate man. police to '04 RH 93174099 £57.50 £48.90 £36.85

    2.2 hatch/saloon/estate man. police to '04 LH 93174098 £57.50 £48.90 £36.85"

    Shocks for the vec.
What is the difference to the sport shock. I presume the sport shock is for all models fitted with sri/gsi suspension set up. Are these police spec ones an upgrade to them? If so is anyone using them?

I use them occasionally at work!!

I doubt there is a lot of difference (if any) to them to be honest... they are probably the same as the uprate ones you would get if you had the tow pack options fitted from new.... just allowing slightly more weight to be carried. Either that or they are the same as the SRi and GSi ones... as the Police Spec models are one off "special vehicles" from VX Special Vehicles and so don't have a specific spec (LS/SRi/GSi etc), so they list them separately so the suppliers can't get confused!!!!

They are all put together off the normal production line by a special department Vx have, so they are built to a spec that police forces will buy (SRi looks, SRi interior, VXR engine, brakes and suspension, Base model dash and audio, no trip computer, uprated electrics/alternator for sirens lights, radio etc etc.) Each one is 'custom built'.

I was flicking through the manual in one of our Astra's and the book was all stamped up with "Vauxhall Specialist Vehicle Division" stamps.

I get to see the police/ambulance spec Audi/VW/skodas. Some changes I notice as Jamie says is dropped specs like audio,Electric windows, airbags. They ARE chipped and tweaked with beefed up suspension and none have low profile tyres, Also they will not allow less than 5mm tread depth and all tyres have to be matching axle to axle. Some of the equipment they carry wieghs close to a ton Another thing on the police spec ones is they disconnect the fuel cut off switch.
