Yet another set of electronic devices to become faulty and expensive to replace when they fail (once the OE warranty has expired)

Mine is 8 years old now and the sensors have only just recently started playing up. At £35 each online that's £140 to replace in 8 years, which I honestly don't think is terrible considering the safety aspect of them (although Vauxhall charge about 4 times that).

Stupidity. If you need all these systems to help you to drive, you shouldn't be on the road. This is the result of vehicle manufacturers lobbying in Europe. Just my liberal view. Paul

your view is spot on imo.

far too many driver aids as they call them, makes people feel invincible and they can get away with bad driving.

It's just advanced planning from the manufacturers...

    1) invent something that's a good idea and costs (say) £5 to produce.

    2) Lobby the EU and Government to get fitting made compulsory on new motors.

    3) When they do start to fail in 7 or 8 years time, charge £75 a pop (or whatever you can get away with) to replace.

    Nice little earner eh?
