Default Z20NET - exhaust manifold studs and nuts

i have some studs work loose on my exhaust manifold. A couple of years ago we had my manifold off when we upgraded to turbo to the 16T, the existing studs and nuts were re-used.

Can i use some type of high temp red threadlock on them or should i just replace them?

I just bought two new studs (as spares in case I snap any over the weekend) from Vauxhall, £4+ each!!!

Yeah, i just got off the phone with mine and have ordered a set of 24418771 studs (pack of 10) and the 11516076 M8 Nuts (pack of 10).. They also sell 50ml of the threadlock compound which is a stock item so I will buy one of those as well.. They expect to have them in for saturday morning but I need the engine cold to be able to do this job so may start the strip down on saturday afternoon when they have all left and complete on Sunday ready..

I could just put some compound on my existing studs, but I have a spare new manifold gasket floating around so may as well change that as well. This is not going to be a fun job to do on my own...

btw the studs were about 80p each + vat.. and the nuts were half that.. are yours gold plated of something or have been passed through a jungle cats guts like some expensive coffee?

Yeah got to admit I'm concerned he's ordered me the wrong things, I thought they were ridiculously priced at the time. Just threw it in as a last minute thing when I was ordering the gasket and seal kit for the new turbo and a few other bits I'm going to need this weekend.

the studs on the manifold to turbo are not separate items for some reason, hopefully you will be ok..

    *crosses fingers*

Won't be putting the new map on until I'm sure it's all in and done, because if I have to reset it back I'm stuffed as when I re-synched my Maptuner to download the new stage 3 map I think (although haven't checked) that it removed all the old maps I had on it so I won't have the old stage 2 map to put back on again. Previously it's left them all on it but don't think it did this time round.

I don't think your stage 2 will work with the bigger turbo anyway, if it's designed for the Garrett then it'll be too aggressive when coupled with the Mitsi.

Yeah it was more for if I have any major issues fitting the Mitsi and end up having to put the garret back on temporarily lol, but as I say I just won't drop the stage 3 map on until I'm sure everything's fitted and in place.

It was the manifold to turbo studs he'd ordered in (basically look almost identical to exhaust manifold studs but the short end is even shorter). I said I didn't want them so they've kept them. He looked up the manifold studs, sure enough 88p each at full retail, ridiculous how Vauxhall can charge £4.90 ish for what is basically the same thing even the guy at the dealers couldn't believe it.

I think my manifold gasket is ok but,, I thought thats where my leak was but after whipping the turbo off i found the gasket that sits between it and the manifold is shot to pieces....
