just done mine for the insignia vxr @ £253 for 6 months when i picked the car up from the dealers, they taxed it on the last day of march and lost me a month of tax
£460 oh boy ha. That's mental. It's best not to but when you think about it, it doesn't half nark you off the price of things now, it's true having a car is an expensive luxury but god , take take take. then the gov has the cheek to moan about cash in hand jobs being morally wrong , I know that maybe only applies to trademan like me. sorry I'm in a grumpy mood today haha
Whats the bets they start to increase the bands that are the most popular, I.e the 'Mondeo man' cars that make up the majority of family cars on the roads. As soon as we're all driving super efficient cars they'll get hammered with tax!
i read somewhere that there going to be taxing eco cars alot higher shortly because someone realized if they dont pay for tax we'll lose to much revinue lol think it was on here somewhere, could be wrong though haha
it will happen eventually with the eco cars, £30 a year to tax and the free ones, there will be a tipping point when whoevers in charge realises that everyones driving them and the govt losing money..... happened with the tax exempt classics.
Tax should work like insurance , no accident you get a no claims bonus (less tax) , any accidents and you shouldnt be on the road unless you pay more tax .......... would get you thinking wouldnt it
The ECO cars have a higher first year TAX payment and then reduce thew following year. e.g.
First tax would be £255
Succeeding years £195
The government has to get the money in somehow.......
There should be no road tax these days anyway - theres so much tax on fuel its covered ten times over!
And its the most fair tax - the more you use, the more you pay.
thanks god mine was registered early march 06 not late
