Well it is a good job we didn't organise a full meet with plenty of notice, as we would have well and truly filled the car park!! Having given you only a weeks' notice, we managed a brilliant twelve cars on the day! (Well, 13 if you count the special guest Monaro!! )
The day stared bright and early with us clearing our driveway for our expected guests. Steve (Spoons) and Diana were the first arrivals, and whilst the ladies took it easy with a cuppa, the guys set to work getting the cars looking their best. After a short while we were joined by Ed Taylor and Larisa (thanks for the little choccy cakes, Larisa!! ) shortly followed by Tony (Caterman) and Eira who had cheated by washing the car before they left home, and therefore missed out on the mass valeting session
Last to arrive was Uncle Ian C, who managed to suspend all traffic through Harewood Close by parking in the middle of the road, much to the interest of the local dog walkers!!
Once everyone was clean and shiney, we set off for the short trip to our local, The Woodpecker, where we already had a great turnout!
After some introductions, discussion and mutual car appreciation, we retreated out of the cold wind to the warm pub, where Sharon (Mrs AJA) had already warned them that they were going to be inundated with car nuts!) To the pubs' credit, they set aside a large area for us so we weren't split up, and were able to enjoy a good hour or two of gossip and grub!!
Once we had all eaten, we returned outside for a photo session, unforntunately by then the weather had turned on us, but we were able to get some good pics before it was time to leave.
A few of our number (Dava ukanalyst and Mrs Dave, Alex and Sharon, Steve and Diana, Andyvec and Ian C) returned back to the house with us for a drink before setting off for home.
It was a truly great end to the year, and was wonderful to have such a cracking turnout at such short notice. If next year can be as successful as 2006 has been, there will be no stopping Vectra-C.com!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Just a couple of pics (as I was under orders to concentrate on Drinky's car which was clean for once)
