Mine is the 1.8 vvt and what drove me mad and cost the most(so far)... Was the dreaded chirping sound on tickover, finally after having new auxilliary belt, new auxilliary belt tensioner, new waterpump and new alternator it has finally gone, cost of cure......£325....... Other than that, this engine has given me no problems in just over 3 years...

The only issues I have had with mine in the last 2 years are the thermostat and I had to replace the driver seat belt. Sum total, less than £25. Bought a new VX Front pipe last year because mine is looking pretty ropey but as of yet its still intact. Obviously i've spend money on normal service items like oil, filters and brake pads.

had my 2.2 direct sri about 3 to 4 month now, full service history, so far ive only done discs and pads all round, had the tracking ajusted (as im a stickler for tracking been bang on, cant stand pulls to left and right and i insisit on a center steering wheel and a car driving in a staright line when the steering wheel is center) car drives like a dream, needs a center bit of exhaust due to both brackers of exhaust snapping off. ive put £500 to the side for any issues that may crop up on the future - best car i have ever owned, i do miss the pull out light switch though for turning on and off the interior light which was on previous vauxhalls.

Seem to be having a fw issues with the CAM phaser solenoids, have replaced one already, may have to change the other. Even tried the field remedy and removed the oil filters....

At least I now have a code reader that will read the codes.

As a matter of interest, does anyone know where the cam sensors are fitted on the VVTi?
