Default Promotasport alloy coolant expansion tank

Bought this what seems like ages ago and had it sitting in the boot ever since.

I was originally going to wait until I had a set of silicone coolant hoses, then I was going to drop the coolant, fit the new hoses and new tank at the same time.

However, I didn't really fancy the X factor tonight so decided to go and fit it

I didn't fancy dropping all of the coolant, instead I thought I'd try and drain the expansion tank and the top part of the bottom hose, not fancying a mouthful of coolant whilst starting a syphon, I fashioned a little device using a medium sized plastic syringe and a length of silicone vacuum tubing.

I sat a plastic container under the engine, plugged the syringe into the tubing, fed it down through the 'bay then popped the cap off the expansion tank and fed in the tube, I then secured it so it didn't pop out mid-syphon.
I then fully drew out the plunger on the syringe and quickly removed it and popped the end of the tubing into the container, instant syphon and no mess

Once the expansion tank was drained I set about removing the 3 tubes and unplugging the level sensor from the old tank, it then simply lifts up and towards you, I propped the large bottom hose up as it was still full of coolant.

Slotted the new shiny one in place (fits like a glove) and reconnected the hoses.

    Before...

    After...

Only problem I've found is there's no hole for the coolant level sensor to plug into, I've emailed promotosport regarding this as when you can't see into the bottle you really do need some form of gauge there.
I've turned the ignition key with the sensor unplugged and nothing shows up on the dash, no warning lights or images on the GID?

I may just buy a gauge and use that instead if the car is happy enough with out it's sensor

I'll grab some better pics in daylight tommorow

That looks great, are there any advantages other than aesthetics?

Don't think so mate, just aesthetics, gave it a clean and buff up this morning and it looks like a mirror now getting ready to go out now but will grab some pics later

You unscrew the cap and look into the tank
