    Default Bypassing coolant temp sensor?

I have a 2006 1.9cdti vectra that struggles with cold starts even on warm days. Changed the glow plugs and coolant sensor but that did not help at all.

Yes there are lots of threads on this issue but i decided to create a new one as i have a specific question to ask (see Q2 below). I noticed that if the coolant sensor is disconnected, the car starts fine, however then there is the annoying light in the dashboard.

    I have two questions:

    1) could my problem be due to a faulty relay that has failed closed?

    2) is there a way to bypass the relay in a way that if I disconnect the coolant temp sensor or the sensor signal to the relay, the relay does not send the signal to the dashboard. Perhaps if someone can post the relay pin diagram. By relay I mean the glow plug relay. The aim is to ensure that glow plugs are utilised each time the car starts, hence the reason for disconnecting the temp sensor input. Could i simply cut off the output from relay to dashboard light?

    Thanks.
