Default Best network provider-mobile phone signal

Been with Vodafone for 8 years now and finding their signal is not that great, their data bundles are poor considering 3 off "all you can eat" data plus Vodafone seen a little expensive now but still have uk call centres which I like.

Anyone have any good or poor experiences with other networks in regards to service and signal?

    Thanks

Vodafone - awful service, ok signal
O2 - ok service, poor signal
3 - awful service, good signal
Orange - good service and good coverage

I'm currently with O2 and will be switching when my contract is up because the signal is really really bad. When I was with Vodafone, all I did was complain to them because I never got a bill through that cost the right amount, even when I went to sea for 2 months so couldn't use my phone and the bills came in over £10 the minimum tariff charge.

I've been with o2 for 6 years and never had a problem with them. Customer service has always been good when I've dealt with them and I honestly can't remember the last time I never had a signal, and I travel all over the UK.

I moved from T Mobile 4 years ago, had been with them for about 8 years, always found their signal good and their service good until the very end. I find 3's signal is rubbish indoors and with my last upgrade I needed to threaten to leave before I got what I wanted.

I've been with O2 for 3 years as a business user & have just signed up for a further 2 years. Customer service has been excellent & the deals they can offer on business tariffs are pretty hard to beat BUT the 3G coverage isn't al that hot.

I'm now with O2 and I've had a few signal issues (apparently due to faulty masts) before then I was with orange for about 8 years, never had any problems with signal but massive problems with phones especially my last phone which was an iPhone 3GS I ended up with 4 handsets and 2 sim cards before I bought the contract out after 11 months (18m contract) there customer service used to be good but now its mainly based in India it has gone to pot.
Orange does however have the best insurance package of all the providers

Been talking to people at work and some have said t-mobile are good now as they paired up with orange but I still hear people moan about orange signal? Think providers should put more into offering a solid 2g/3G service than worry about 4g!!
thanks for the comments so far, hard choice as 18months is a long time if I make the wrong choice! Normally phone for a handset as I can then return it within 7 days....

Depends on your usage and requirements but Giffgaff is a reasonably well-kept secret (runs off the O2 network) if it's casual calling/SMS/web you're after.
