Default To Buy or not to Buy

    Afternoon Peeps,

I have been after a new car for a while and have found this.
I have a few questions im hoping you can help me with

    1. what are these engines/car like for reliability
    2. common faults to look out for
    3. MOT history checker has shown replaced springs on drivers front and rear at 49k is this common or acceptable.
    4. Service History is all complete but when should i have the cambelt done.
    5. During driving the car i noticed an electrical noise like the fuel pump is always running or the ecu is loud maybe normal TBH.
Any other advice will be great thanks for your help.

I have one and owned it now for over 3 years and 77k on the clock. Great reliable car. The spring break is common on all vectra's, my front one broke during the cold winter, I replaced all with eibach 30mm for £170. Only other issues I've had was the wiper motor went but again common on all vectra's, replaced myself thanks to this forum. Last thing to go was the thermostat which was £60 and fitted it myself thanks to here. As for the timing belt, I haven't changed mine yet as its recomended by Vuaxhall to change after 100k, I'll change mine now when it hit 80k.

http://www.carcareplan.co.uk/ This is the warranty that comes with the car is 12 months and has a cap of 1k per claim. I.E. you can have 10 claims but at 1k each.

So about the 1.8vvt engine common problems. While driving the car i thought it was slow pickup at 1500rpm to 4000rpm then felt like a cam kicked in and started picking up quicker after 4000rpm is this normal.

I think there was about 70k on when it went, basicly the car wasnt heating up right, i.e. the temp guage wouldn't rise above 70deg, simple enough to replace. You should get between 38-40mpg with that kinda drive everyday. I'm city driving 3miles in 20min and getting 32mpg for that.

I'd go for it. I have just picked up today and made up with it. Its pretty much the same car as you but mines blue. I drove from Perth to Edinburgh and averaged 42mpg, I'm happy with that.
