Default Coming back to a Vec

    Hi everyone,

Had a 52-plate Vec LS 2.0DTi a few years back. Did virtually 100k miles in it until it died saving my life as a cretin in a van smashed into me head-on (high speed, blind bend.....)

Anyway, 2 years in an Astra Estate and I need to order a new car. And its going to be another Vec by the look of it. There's a 1.9 CDTi (120) Exclusiv on the list. Had a look at one this morning and it feels *huge* compared to my Astra - want one back!

They're a bit skimpy on spec these days aren't they? I lose auto wipers, dimming mirror, rear cupholders, sunglasses holder, map lights and the optional rear blinds off my LS of 4 years ago - are VX running out of money? Especially when I see that the sunglasses holder is less than a tenner - cheap sods! On the bright side my company has negotiated a free CD70Nav upgrade, so I do get a new toy to play with....

Is the 1.9 8v diesel any good? The old 2.0 lump was a bit rough, though the more modern 1.7 diesel in my Astra is much better.

I suppose my only other question is what colour?

Why not go for a Signum then m8 I was surprised how much my old '54 plate Veccy was missing. Got most of the toys back now i have a Siggy.

The 120 engine is ok and you can stick a tuning box on it to get it to around 150+

Can't really call it a seat although it does have a proper seatbelt. My son who is 16 and as tall as me almost has sat in it for a decent journey and didn't complain. It more of a 4 seater though as the 2 full size seats do recline and move forwards/backwards.

There is room for a disco in the back

My car list has an exciting choice of Ford (Focus Est, Mondeo, C-Max) or VX (Astra Estate, Vectra, Zafira), so sadly no Signum - think the boot's probably too small anyway (one kid, another brewing....)

Unless my company has a sudden change of heart I can only have an Exclusiv spec one - Design has been booted onto a different list. I can live with that though - are auto lights and wipers worth £13 a month in tax?

Trust me m8, the boot is not small, in fact i think it is bigger than the Vec as it is based on the estate platform.
Shame you can't get a Siggy on the list as it really has surprised me just how different it is to drive too.
