    Default Roof Spoiler Estate

    Hi All
Received my spoiler from eBay, it's fibre glass, but the body shop I've asked to paint it say there's a possibility it might bubble over time from the chemicals bleeding through and a GENUINE spoiler would have been the recommended option (bodyshop is an independent).

Has anyone had any issues with none vaux/irmscher spoilers?

What prep did you do? As far as I've been told, make sure roof is clean and dry and to make sure there's no oils use petrol to wipe it over, then simply apply glue to edge of spoiler and then i'll get someone to help put in place.

Bodyshop said it will be better to let the paint air dry slowly, rather than in oven, so i've left it with them to do and see what it looks like when done. I'm hoping it will be ok, or as they said it will have been a false economy buying cheaper non-gen.

not got the roof one , but the other 2 are only copies and were done in the bodyshop with no problems , there are a few members that have painted and then stuck them on ,.

I would imagine if it's going to react it wold do so when painted ... Straightaway and not over time... I've seen this occur on cheaper spoilers and it was pretty much instantaneous once cured/dried

So get them to paint it ... If it blisters and bubbled then there is an issue ... There just telling you so that IF it does ( I'm not saying it will) then they will still expect you to pay for their time and materials

It's actually the bodyshop that does all or cars we send from work, so he's only charging me £100 to do spoiler, grille and a mirror cover, but he just said it can happen even after a year or so in the sun, but I also assumed it would happen straight away if it was going to
